5 Ways for Stress Release That Really Work

It doesn’t matter if you have troubles at work, you are arguing with a friend, or worry about your partner, stress is affecting your health and can cause you many problems. Even if there are no big problems in your life (we honestly hope there aren’t), little things can pile up and make you feel sad and exhausted. Stress lowers the quality of life and can make you physically ill, and relieving pressure is essential if you want to keep control.

Young Woman Meditating on the Floor

You don’t have to be an expert in meditation, and you cannot expect to reach nirvana on your first try, but meditation can improve the quality of your life. Starting is ridiculously easy: sit quietly for just two minutes. That’s it, sitting comfortably in silence with your eyes closed for two minutes every day. After a week you can add two more minutes, and you can continue adding minutes in the weeks to come. Do this every morning, it will not take too much of your time, but you will feel refreshed. Don’t be too focused on how, simply do your best and the results will be visible almost instantly.

Breathe Differently

How often do you focus on your breathing? It can get annoying if you do it every minute of every day, but as a stress release technique it is incredibly effective. Breathe deeply all the way from the abdomen and fill your lungs with clear, fresh air. Place your left hand on your stomach and right on your heart and count slowly: four seconds inhale, four seconds hold your breath, and four seconds for the exhale. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth and keep counting. The best part is that you can practice breathing almost anywhere and combine it with other relaxation techniques.

A Helping Hand

Sometimes you cannot calm down on your own, and that is okay; asking for help is a sign of maturity and responsibility. Professionals can help you in more than one way: you can talk to a therapist if you have trouble managing your stress, but you can also visit another kind of professional. Massage is proven to be incredibly helpful as a stress release technique, states professional chiropractor from Sydney. Choose the massage that works best for you: shiatsu, aromatherapy, hot stone, deep tissue – whichever you prefer.

Magic of Music

When you were younger you probably listened to music all the time, and it made you feel better when you were down. The healing power of music is evident, and you can use it to calm down when you are anxious. Sometimes when you’re sad, sad music will make you feel happier, and when you’re angry, fast and loud beats will calm you down. Of course, if the pressure becomes too much simply take a break spend at least ten to fifteen minutes listening to relaxing classical music. Calming music can lower your blood pressure, and reduce levels of hormone linked to stress – cortisol.

Soothing Power of Nature

You would be surprised how soothing nature can be for a troubled mind; a simplest short walk through a nearby park will make you feel like a new person. Sounds of nature, insects, birds, and pets combined with the breeze of fresh air and sun on your skin while you walk will instantly improve your mood.

Finding the right way to relax and calm down can be tricky, but it is well worth it. Even if you sometimes feel like there is no way out of your stressful situation, take a few deep breaths and try to find another angle from which you will assess the problem. A few deep breaths and fifteen minute break when you feel like you r head will explode will do wonders for your psyche and body.
