The USA has for many decades been one of the best countries for tourists to visit. From the East to the West Coast, Alaska to Florida, every part of this huge country offers something interesting to be seen. When people say New York, the first thing that springs to mind is Manhattan.
This magical city is one of the most populous in the United States and is one of the must-see destinations on the US’s East Coast. It is sometimes seen as the center of business, commerce, arts, fashion, education and technology, but it is also much more than that. New York is not only on top of the lists of tourist destinations for many tourists around the world but is also the dream of many who want to experience and possibly live the “American dream”.
Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is probably one of the most famous buildings in New York. After the destruction of the Twin Towers, it has become one of the tallest buildings as well. The Empire State Building is definitely a sight to see, so don’t miss it as it surpasses all other buildings in the area in its beauty and is always uniquely illuminated. Be sure to set aside one free afternoon and climb up to the lookout point, and you will not regret it. From the top of the Empire State Building, you can see the whole city. Make sure you go there at dusk or early evening so that you will be able to see the city in daylight and night-time as well.
Central Park is also one of the things to see. It is a beautiful park filled with many attractions so that you can choose the ones you would like to see the most. You can ride a bicycle through the long and intertwined paths, walk by the lake and numerous fountains or lie on the grass like most New Yorkers do. You can also rent a boat and gently “cruise” on the lake with your own better half and enjoy the extraordinary view, an ideal combination of nature and modern skyscrapers that completely surround the park.
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest and most famous bridges in the US. The bridge connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, and if you want to go there by foot, you will have to walk a lot, but you can see many interesting things along the way. The bridge managed to keep its original appearance after more than a century of existence, but of course, some decorative changes had to be made. Yet its purpose and essence remain the same. The large arches that characterize the bridge as well as cable arrangement that forms a unique weblike patterns are still there after so many years. Across the bridge, you can make excellent panorama pictures.
Staten Island Ferry
The Staten Island Ferry, which connects Manhattan and Staten Island, is located near the Brooklyn Bridge, on the road between the two locations you pass next to “Ground Zero” – the place where the Twin Towers once stood, and now it is the place of the Memorial Center dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack on September 11. In addition, you cannot help but notice that there is a huge building that rises from the ground, the place of the future World Trade Center. When you reach the coast, you will see New Jersey and Liberty Island on which stands the Statue of Liberty. If you take the ferry, you will pass directly next to the Statue of Liberty. The purpose of this “trip” is to see something that will stay etched in your memory for your whole life.
New York is a city definitely worth visiting. With so many people of different religions and beliefs, you can easily find someone to talk to.
